The injured were rushed to Mpeketoni sub county hospital and admitted.

The area was prone to such attacks and the national government had to set up a KDF and a multi security agency camps to secure it sometimes back.The area has poor roads and a swamp which aids the militants to escape easily after carrying out attacks.
Confirming the incident Lamu County Commissioner (CC), Macharia Irungu stated that the two buses were headed to Lamu when the attack occurred.
He stated that the national government has deployed security personnel in the area, adding that a massive manhunt both by land and air to track down the suspected attackers was ongoing.
The Lamu County Police Commander, Perminus Kioi has also urged Lamu residents to exercise calm and desist from spreading propaganda over the incident.
“We urge members of the public to refrain from spreading rumors through social media over the incident and wait for the national government to address the incident,” Kioi stated.
The latest Al-Shabaab attacks comes in the wake of the national government ordering the re-opening of Lamu’s Boni Schools closed in 2014 due to Al-Shabaab attacks.
However, the CC has expressed confidence that the national government will ably address insecurity posed by Al-Shabaab militants.
