Former Exrpess Duo Joins Somali Giants Elman Sports Club

Former Express Football Club players Avemah Shafiq and Hamdan Nsubuga have officially moved to Somalia Premier League side Elman Sports Club.

Both players join Elman SC signing a one-year deal apiece as confirmed via the club’s official social media accounts.

“We are proud to announce the signing of two Ugandan nationality players who Join us from UPL Club ExpressFc, Avemar Shafiq & Nsubuga Hamdan we have agreed duration of one-year contract. Shafiq & Hamdaan Welcome to Elman,” read the club statement.

The six-time Somalia Premier League Champions are currently coached by Ugandan tactician Robert Mayanja. Last season, they finished 3rd on the table with 34 points.

Other players playing their trade in Somalia are Nicholas Kagaba and Steven Ategeka both playing for Gaadiidka, Brian Mugisha (Horseed) and the duo of Ivan Lubaale and Vincent Egesa (Midmino).

Forward Farouk Matovu, Umar Mukobe and Okello Donato are other Ugandan players also featuring in Somalia.

The 2020/2021 Somalia Premier League season is scheduled to kick off on 28th November, 2020.
