A 21-year old Brooklyn Park woman is charged with First Degree Aggravated Robbery and 2nd Degree Assault with a Dangerous Weapon in a brutal attack on an elderly Somali woman.
It happened in an apartment building in Minneapolis' Cedar-Riverside neighborhood last Saturday. Police say Da'Seanna Williams robbed the woman of her purse, which contained 900 dollars in rent money, and pistol-whipped her so severely that a metal piece of her gun broke off.
"The suspect admitted to targeting Somali individuals, and oftentimes Somali females," said Minneapolis Police Department spokesman John Elder.
"Through additional investigation by these detectives, Williams has been identified as a suspect in a series of other robberies," said Elder.
The victim was treated at HCMC for a fractured skull, brain bleed, and gunshot wounds. She has been released from the hospital. Williams is in the Hennepin County Jail.
"This is a person who acted with such incredible malice, and such incredible disregard for life," said Elder.
