Senior leaders of the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) have started a two-day training program on peace support operations, AMISOM said on Friday.
The training, in Mogadishu, is being conducted by officials from the African Union Commission in Ethiopia and the Secretariat.
Francisco Madeira, special representative of the chairperson of the AU Commission for Somalia, expressed commitment to ensuring a fruitful and interactive engagement.
“Each of our components has very clearly defined tasks — the police, military, and civilian, and we will work to ensure we achieve the AMISOM mandate,” Madeira said.
According to the AU, key topics that will be covered during the training session include the legal frameworks of AU peace support operations and the AMISOM mandate.
